Shamelessly borrowing from oldies radio, Darlings add a dirty garage ethic and lewd lyrics to old-school rock ‘n’ roll. And guess what—it works! It’s a shtick, and future albums will need to show some creative development, but this is a promising debut. Opening track “TV” is a standout.
